The Criminal Investigative Division provides investigative services to all Anoka County police agencies. The division is responsible for most felony-level investigations of crimes occurring in Sheriff's Office patrol areas and felony cases not assumed by local police departments. The division specializes in investigations of:
Child abuse
Child pornography
Sexual assaults
Homicides and death investigations
The division also has investigators trained in:
Fraud prevention - working in the area of welfare fraud
Computer and video forensics
Polygraph
The division also provides arson investigations and maintains the countywide register for predatory offenders.
Narcotics and Violent Crime Task Force
The Sheriff's Office coordinates the operations of the Anoka-Hennepin Narcotics and Violent Crimes Task Force. The Task Force is comprised of officers from the Sheriff's Office and the Anoka, Blaine, Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Fridley, Coon Rapids, Columbia Heights, and Maple Grove police departments.
Crime Victims Assistance Program
The Criminal Investigative Division has a Victims Services Coordinator. This position is responsible for keeping victims informed of the status of their case. The specialist also provides information on resources available to assist victims. See Help for victims of crime on this Web site.
